Hamilton received letters from Ellen H. Bonsall (Gaines Mill, Sumpter County, Ala.), his niece Sallie Waller (Gordonsville, Va. and Petersburg, Va.), his sister Annie Hamilton (Blantyre?, Va.) and his brother E.W. Hamilton (Blantyre?, Va.). The letters discuss civilian life and relay home news to Hamilton. With the letters are three envelopes, one with a portion of a Gordonsville, Va. postmark.
